Jonathan Gurvit Collection

In a small amount of time Jonathan has managed to put together a quality collection of gems.

His collection spans all the way from early Star Kampfe, Ever Ready, Gem, Rolls and Schick razors well over a hundred years old mostly in pristine boxes, to early very rare Gillettes. Every one is cherry picked and in outstanding condition. The display is breathtaking. This is a remarkable feat!

Paul Whitecotton Collection

Paul has taken many years to gather this quality collection of Razors. It is truly enormous and spans right from an early Star Kampfe section, and Ever Ready, to Gem, Rolls and Schick and very rare Gillette Razors over a hundred years old. Every one cherry picked and outstanding. In 1975 he discovered a box full of rare razors on a new farm- he was particularly fascinated by the old Segal. With Paul’s keen interest in design and engineering, the old razors were of great interest. Then he inherited his fathers Gillette Superspeed and wondered if these razors were available on eBay. That purchase started the collection.

Paul owns more than 500 unique safety razors. Amongst the collection is an 1880 Kampfe razor patented in 1876. Another unique piece is a version of the Gillette Fatboy of which there are only 36. Also, a 1904 Gillette Double Ring Razor produced for only a year before the Single Ring took its place. His favourite is his 1958 Gillette Bottom Dial Razor. Paul tries to keep his razors in their original boxes to add to their value. This magnificent collection is stored in fourteen different display cases. His wife insists all razors must not be hidden in storage, but be displayed organized with different types and brands of razors grouped together.

Gavin’s Collection

I am not sure if it’s the surgeon in me or the test pilot, but sometimes I just marvel at the precise engineering of these instruments. But it’s more than that. Firstly some of these cherry picked items have an intrinsic beauty from the match of texture and colour that is close to perfection. And then one level deeper there is real history behind many of these razors. Whether they witnessed more than one World War, or generation after generation in a family. Or the “Psycho Razors” used in prisons and Mental institutions….imagine the stories they could tell.

Some Razors tell a story when part of a set, some can stand on their own.

I present my collection of special Razors to you. If you want more info just ask. I will try to list many of them so you have an idea which of my opinions hold more value, and I will do my best to do proper reviews and comparisons when I get the chance and add them to the site to aid new folk.

Gavin’s Collection

This is the section of my Razor collection that I enjoy so much that I have gone to the trouble of sourcing the Razors and making them available to you through this shop (whenever possible). Each Razor is outstanding in its own way so the trick is to learn what that is, and which one is best suited to your unique situation. If you need an opinion or comparison just ask.
